About Us
Terían is a restaurant on the ground floor of Hotel Kea in the town center of Akureyri, with an emphasis on Italian and French cuisine.
The name comes from back in the day, when this most historic hotel in town ran a popular restaurant named Terían for years in the same space, as Akureyri's residents are familiar with.
Terían is the sister restaurant of Múlabergs Bistro&Bar, which is located on the floor above. The same team is behind the two locations, but Terían opened in July 2024 after extensive construction and changes to the premises.
Terían offers a breakfast buffet every morning, brunch and lunch - as well as light but classic dishes in the evening.
Terían & Múlaberg are incredibly lucky to have the most amazing and ambitious team of professionals who look forward to keep surprising our guests with food&drink in a new way in this new restaurant.
THE ART @ TERÍAN & THE ARTIST
Unnur Stella Níelsdóttir is a local artist from Akureyri, Iceland, whose work spans painting, ceramics and design.
She studied fine art and ceramics in Florence and design in Spain, and today works from her studio, Start Studio, in Akureyri.
Unnur Stella’s work is characterised by bold colours
and a playful visual style. For Terían Brasserie, she created custom wall art that has become an integral part of the restaurant’s character and overall atmosphere.

For Terían Brasserie, Unnur Stella created custom wall art that has become an integral part of the restaurant’s character and atmosphere.
The artworks, found throughout the restaurant — including on the walls and inside the restrooms — reflect her colourful and distinctive visual style.
Through her work, Unnur Stella brings her own visual world into the space, creating a connection between art, food, togetherness and the overall dining experience. The wall art is not simply intended as decoration, but as part of the atmosphere — something for guests to discover and enjoy throughout their visit.
For the large wall outside the restrooms, Unnur Stella chose to paint the aftermath of a grand dinner party. In her imagination, a playful little story began to take shape: the animals that appear inside the restrooms had escaped from the barn and enjoyed a rather eventful night of freedom together.
They had clearly been having a wonderful time, as the dinner table was left in complete disarray before they made their escape into the restrooms, where they are now hiding from the farmers who came looking for them.
The artwork therefore unfolds as a small story of its own — one that guests can gradually discover as they explore the space.
